The 2009 Eclipse is a 2-door, 4-passenger sports coupe available in three trims, ranging from the RS to the GT. Upon introduction, the RS is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 147-horsepower engine that consumes 22-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway. The GT is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, V6, 200-horsepower engine that consumes 20-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, while a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2009 Eclipse is a carryover from 2000.

Inside, styling is one part futuristic and two parts sporty with a dash of luxury sprinkled in. Featuring a twin-cockpit design, the interior is symmetrical and functional, with some components appearing melded into the dash. Materials include soft-touch appointments with titanium-finish details.
