Naturally, it all starts in the engine. Combining a higher compression ratio, a two-stage induction system, free-flowing exhaust and a modified VTEC™ system, the Type S engine achieves substantially higher peak power and torque ratings.

The transmission, chassis and tires of the Type S help translate the engine's extra power into capable performance, even when unusual forces are brought to bear. To cope with the bumps, g-forces and road-surface dynamics of spirited driving, Type S models provide larger wheels and larger, higher-rated performance tires, as well as a firmer, sport-tuned multi-link suspension with stiffer damping profiles and a larger-diameter rear stabilizer bar.
